The Beatles on iTunes

The Beatles are now selling music on iTunes..... whaaaaaat?!!

Major change from when McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr didn't have anything up for sale on iTunes.

But then again,

That
Is
AWESOME!

Breaking news in the Apple industry. The Beatles on iTunes... who would have guessed!

Check them out on iTunes, and also the article at mtv.com which discusses the "Paul-Fest" on SNL.

Talking in Song Lyrics

So, I do this weird thing where I talk in song lyrics at random times unexpectedly.

An example of this is when someone will be trying to make a point but dragging it on too long or something, so I'll cut them off with, "I got youuuu." Then they'll look at me weird and I'll look away and then look back to finish with, "ALL FIGURED OUT!" And they'll either still look at me awkwardly or sing along to the next part, "You need everyone's eyes just to feel seeeen."

Ha, I feel a bit hipocritical right about now and probably would have cut myself off with "I got youuuu," right about a long time ago.

If you're still confused, then check out the sweet vid on YouTube already.... and GO.

Warped Tour

Now, since I mentioned it two blogs ago in my dedication to Twitter, I can't forget to make a new one to WARPED TOUR!!!

Ok, I can't help but to get excited about Warped Tour because it's the greatest concert ever to exist! I've been the past six years in a row and have made sure to plan family vacations around it, but for a good reason.

Big-name bands like the Offspring, Dropkick Murpheys, Cobra Starship, and Blink-182...
Locals like 3OH!3, Single File, and Tickle Me Pink...
And singers like Katy Perry and Mike Posner...

                                        - HAVE.ALL.PLAYED.THERE -

Alright, I sound like a maniac right now. Anyway, it's the best concert ever like I said. So, go check it out next summer.

Pepper!

Pepper, a band from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, said they love coming to Colorado for their shows, and play here often. On Oct. 28, the band performed a show at Aggie Theater in Old Town Fort Collins for $25. Pepper usually plays larger, more expensive venues (like Red Rocks Ampiteatre which they play often) due to their popularity band status, but this time they went all out for a smaller venue by going for a Halloween theme.

For the concert, Pepper's band members entered, and immediately excited the stage dressed in doctors' costumes, promoting their newest EP - "Stiches". They also played some some of their old songs, which fans all sang along to, like "Ashes" and "Freeze."

Band members wooed 'the aggie' crowd with their humorous jokes between each song and high intensity throughout the show. Toward the end, they also played 'doctor' to one of their band members who rolled around and played tricks in a wheelchair.

This was the fourth time that I have seen Pepper perform live. Granted that the Aggie was the smallest venue of the four, it was their best performance.

Pepper can also be followed via Twitter and Facebook.

What's all the 'Tweet' About?

This blog is a dedication to Twitter. No, I didn't stutter given if I would have spoken this.

So many people disregard Twitter's importance, because obviously they don't use an account and see the other side to their typical "I'm walking to the grocery store" impression of it.
People who have Twitter accounts and use it effectively, however, LOVE IT.

Now, let me explain how I have used Twitter in a productive way with music. Warped Tour is a concert which I attend myself to every summer, and after creating a Twitter account (back in 2009), I have been met some awesome bands like: 3oh!3, Single File, The Bouncing Souls, Innerpartystem, and more. How I did this, was by receiving their 'tweets' via text message from my Twitter account, and going to the tents which they signed at throughout the day.

So.. what are people and bands on Twitter saying?
Kevin Martinez, my brother who has a bit of a Twitter obsession and will admit it, tweeted Thursday, Dec. 2, "I'm disappointed that this day is STILL not a national holiday. Maybe next year. Happy Birthday @britneyspears!"
  And also,
3OH!3 bandmembers, who also use their Twitter account regularly, have recently tweeted:
"Be an extra in 3OH!3's next music video!" (Dec. 6); and "FROM THE VAULTS: 3OH!3 to release their old unreleased track 'Hit it Again' on December 21st." (Dec. 8).

So, if you haven't figured it out yet, I am a fan of Twitter. I don't tweet as much as my brother or 3OH!3, but
I do enjoy its great benefits in meeting bands and finding out what they are up to. There is much more to Twitter than music, but I will stop there. I guess the point that I am trying to make here is: "Twitter rocks my world."
Wow. I can't believe I just tweeted that...

Listen To The Fall Leaves

They speak to me... falling so eloquently, so wonderfully. Listening to "In a Big Country," they fall to the beat. It's a new season of change. When my world changes, the leaves do too. So brightly, like a piercing tiger's eye, like the crystals in a stream.

"And in a big country, dreams stay with you,
Like a lover's voice, fires the mountainside.."

I hear these lyrics upon passing the striped, colorful leaves of a tree. It stands between others, but it's smaller than them. Ten leaves fall as I pass.

"I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert,
But I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime.."

I love fall, it's my favorite season. The trees die yes, but they come back to life. That's what makes them so terrific. No other life forms can do that. Change is in the making. I can hear it, and this time it seems right.

Students In The Military

"Students In The Military"
Political Science Major Zach Zbocnik shares how he balances school with the military. He is in the Army ROTC at CSU and talks about how he will get his branch after he commissions. Other CSU students are shown at the beginning of the video and many are shown throughout, as well as students of other states and countries like Korea. Zbocnik as well as Floyd Lindbloom and others in the video, have said that their families are very supportive of them serving the military.
The meaning of the video is to show that students in the military are just like students in other jobs. They are fun and show character, while studying hard too. Many of the photos depicted in the video show those who serve in the military hanging out with their friends, just as other CSU students have shared those photos as well. Ranging from different areas of the United States and Korea, these students all work just as hard in serving their countries and becoming heroes for their loved ones and role models for children who look up to them.
Military students are just like CSU students. They work hard, they study, they compete, they have fun; but most importantly, they are all unique. They all serve different areas of the military and its branches, including: the Army ROTC, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and have different jobs too like: engineering, journalism, technology, captain positions, some in training, and more. Several military people have said that training for their branches is the hardest thing they’ve ever done in their lives. Some say it has changed them, and that they miss their families after they have been deployed overseas and even in different states of the U.S. This video is a salute to all who serve the military for their countries and families.

3oh!3's Prom Show Disaster

Alright, here it is, let me just cut to the chase. 3oh!3. Everyone's heard of them. Back in 2007 they were booed off my high school's prom stage. Dakota Ridge students weren't fans I guess. Or are they? Wait they are now. But then again they weren't "prom material" back in 2007, because: 1) no one had heard of them, and, 2) they were too out there. Then in 2008, yea one year after their boos, they were the next rap/rock/techno/whatever sensation and fad. What a turn around. No one heard their boos then, and no one does today; but Dakota Ridge High School classes 2007 and 2008 did. At a prom dance of all places. Now they just ROCK... literally.

Not So Silent Night

Its appealing and contary title to an old Christmas song we've all heard brings people of all types and backgrounds together for one epic show. Area 93.3 hosts its sixth Not So Silent Night concert this year in November and features local bands from Colorado and bands which became well-known originating in Colorado. Some exceptions to those native of Colorado are Oh My Stars!, from Los Angeles, Cali., who became a friendly name ever since their debut song, "Bloody November," and InnerPartySystem from their debut, "Don't Stop." Colorado locals, 3oh!3 and The Epilogues, will perform to returning followers and newcomers to their rock fads. On the first morning of concert sales, Area 93.3 sold tickets for $9.33 starting at 10 am for a set number of customers. Now the 18+ age concert can be purchased for $30/ticket.  Not So Silent Night will be hosted at 8 pm, Nov. 26, 2010, at 1STBANK Center.

Let us sing together... "Silent Night...." - not.

Local Fort Collins Rock Music on the Rise

The Aggie, located in Old Town, Fort Collins, is the home to many local rock bands along with techno DJ's hoping to increase publicity and expand their music. Northern Colorado bands such as: Tickle Me Pink, Good Gravy, and Watchout There's Ghosts are headlining the final three shows during the month of August. More well-known artists and bands such as Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, Pepper, Wu-Tang Clan, Slightly Stoopid, and others have also performed at the venue.
